India Slams Pakistan at UN, Exposes Double Standards on Peace and Terrorism

United Nations: In a sharp and unapologetic address to the United Nations Security Council, India’s Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish launched a scathing critique of Pakistan, accusing it of breeding extremism and obstructing international peace efforts.

Speaking at a high-level session themed “Advancing Global Peace Through Multilateralism and Dialogue”, Harish juxtaposed India’s democratic resilience and developmental achievements with what he described as Pakistan’s “institutionalised radicalism and chronic economic dependence.”

“While India continues to build as a responsible stakeholder in global peace and progress, Pakistan remains mired in religious fanaticism, political instability, and perpetual dependence on international bailouts,” Harish said. He underscored India’s role as a founding UN member, noting that New Delhi remains committed to a global order rooted in fairness, cooperation, and security.

The Indian envoy also raised the issue of terrorism, calling out Pakistan for its alleged backing of cross-border violence. Referring to the brutal April 22 massacre in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, where over two dozen civilians lost their lives, Harish asserted that India had credible evidence linking the attack to Pakistan-based terror outfits.

In response, he revealed that India launched Operation Sindoor, a strategic military action targeting terror infrastructure within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “These were precision strikes, designed to dismantle active training camps. Our response was calibrated—not escalatory—but necessary,” he said.

Harish further claimed that the ceasefire, which took effect on May 10, was initiated not through external diplomacy but at Pakistan’s request—a direct contradiction to US President Donald Trump’s statement that he had brokered the truce. “Let the record show—there was no third-party intervention. Pakistan sought de-escalation after facing mounting global pressure and a firm Indian military posture,” he stated.

The Indian representative also criticized Pakistan’s role within the Council itself. “It is ironic and unacceptable that a nation providing safe haven to globally designated terrorists attempts to position itself as a peace advocate on this platform,” Harish said, calling for a united global stance on zero tolerance for terrorism.
