A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphatic address to the nation celebrating the success of Operation Sindoor, tensions between India and Pakistan intensified, with Islamabad rejecting Modi’s sharp warnings and reaffirming its commitment to a recent ceasefire.

In his nationwide address on Monday, PM Modi hailed the Indian armed forces for the surgical precision of Operation Sindoor, which reportedly neutralized several terrorist launchpads and killed dozens of militants, including “high-value” targets.

“We have paused, not ended our retaliation. Pakistan asked for the ceasefire, not India,” Modi declared, sending a clear signal that India’s response to terror will remain unrelenting if provoked again.

Modi further asserted, “Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand. Water and blood cannot flow together.”

However, Pakistan swiftly responded to Modi’s remarks. In a statement carried by Reuters, the country’s foreign ministry said it “rejects provocative and inflammatory assertions by the Indian Prime Minister.” It emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to the ceasefire understanding and is focused on “de-escalation and regional stability.”

The statement added: “Pakistan hopes India will prioritize regional stability and well-being of its citizens.” But it also came with a warning of its own — any future aggression “will be met with full resolve.”

Adding to his tough posture, Modi on Tuesday visited the Adampur Air Base in Punjab, where he addressed Indian Air Force personnel. “India is always with peace, but it is always ready to make the enemy bite the dust if it is attacked,” he said during his address.
