Haryana: The Haryana Municipal Corporation election results are set to be announced today, with early trends indicating a sweeping victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) across multiple districts, including Gurugram, Sirsa, Jhajjar, and Karnal. The counting of votes began at 8:00 AM, and the BJP appears poised to dominate, while the Congress faces yet another electoral setback.

The elections were held to elect mayors and ward members for seven municipal corporations, along with presidents and ward members for four municipal councils and 21 municipal committees. By-elections for three municipal president positions in Sohna, Assandh, and Ismailabad were also conducted. The overall voter turnout was recorded at 41%, reflecting moderate participation from the electorate. Panipat held its mayoral elections separately.

Early results suggest the BJP is leading in nine out of ten mayoral races, including in Rohtak, a traditional Congress stronghold. In Manesar, BJP rebel Dr. Inderjit Yadav has taken a lead as an independent candidate. The BJP’s aggressive campaign strategy, spearheaded by top leaders like Rajasthan Chief Minister Nayab Saini and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, appears to have paid off, as the party secured widespread support through roadshows and door-to-door campaigns. Congress, despite bringing in leaders like Sachin Pilot and Bhupinder Hooda to boost its prospects, has struggled to make a significant impact.

In Gurugram, BJP’s Raj Rani is leading Congress candidate Pahuja by a significant margin of over 95,000 votes after six rounds of counting. With the final results expected soon, the BJP’s overwhelming lead underscores its firm grip on Haryana’s urban political landscape and presents yet another challenge to the Congress’s revival in the state.

  1. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research about this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more from this post. I’m very glad to see such fantastic information being shared freely out there.
