Srinagar: In a decisive effort to curb the misuse of SIM cards and strengthen public safety, Handwara police carried out a comprehensive inspection of SIM card vendors across the district. The initiative was designed to ensure vendors comply with regulations governing the sale and activation of SIM cards, further bolstering law enforcement’s role in maintaining public security.

The inspection primarily focused on verifying adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, ensuring proper documentation, and preventing the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards. Vendors were thoroughly monitored to confirm their compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Handwara police underscored the vital role SIM vendors play in securing communication networks and urged them to strictly follow KYC procedures. Vendors were cautioned that any violations would lead to stringent legal actions, including fines, cancellation of licenses, and potential prosecution.

Additionally, the police called on the public to report any suspicious activities or irregularities related to SIM card sales and usage, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in enhancing overall security.
