Gandhinagar: In a move aimed at improving administrative efficiency and service delivery, the Gujarat Cabinet on Wednesday announced the creation of a new district named Vav-Tharad. The decision to carve out this new district from the existing Banaskantha district was approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

With this development, Vav-Tharad will become the 34th district of Gujarat, marking a significant step in the state’s administrative restructuring. The formation of the new district is expected to address the growing administrative and geographical challenges, ensuring better governance and quicker access to government services for the residents of Vav-Tharad.

The move comes as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to decentralize administration, improve public service delivery, and meet the increasing demands of local populations. By creating a new district, the government aims to streamline the management of resources, improve infrastructure, and enhance access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and welfare schemes.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed his commitment to ensuring that the residents of the newly-formed Vav-Tharad district benefit from improved administrative efficiency. “This decision will bring the government closer to the people and make governance more effective. We are focused on ensuring that the people of Vav-Tharad have easy access to government services,” Patel said.
