Thiruvananthapuram: On his first day in office, Kerala Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar reversed a state government decision, reinstating the security team that had served under his predecessor, Arif Mohammed Khan. This action marks a significant statement of intent as Arlekar steps into his role, signaling a clear stance on governance.

The state government had earlier replaced the security personnel assigned to Khan, with new officers aligned with the interests of the Home Department. However, the replaced personnel reportedly raised concerns, directly informing the Governor about the changes. This prompted Arlekar to intervene and question the reasons behind their removal.

In response, the Governor called for an immediate meeting with the acting Director General of Police, ADGP Manoj Abraham, to address the matter. After discussions with the affected officials, Arlekar ensured that the security team would be reinstated, effectively overturning the state government’s decision. The swift action demonstrated his firm approach towards matters of security and governance.

Governor Arlekar, who had previously expressed his intention to avoid confrontation with the state government, reaffirmed his commitment to resolving issues in Kerala rather than fostering conflict.

Meanwhile, Arif Mohammed Khan, the former Governor of Kerala, was sworn in as the Governor of Bihar, marking another significant political development.
