Hyderabad: Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has been granted regular bail in connection with the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the screening of his blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident, which occurred on December 13, 2024, resulted in the death of 35-year-old Revathi and critically injured her son, sparking widespread shock and legal scrutiny.
The Nampally court in Hyderabad approved the actor’s bail on Wednesday, requiring him to furnish two surety bonds of ₹50,000 each. As part of the bail conditions, Allu Arjun must report to the Chikkadpally police station every Sunday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for two months or until the filing of the charge sheet, whichever occurs first.
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 following allegations that his promotional activities for Pushpa 2 contributed to the massive crowd surge outside the theatre. The actor spent a night in Hyderabad’s Chanchalguda Jail before being granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court.
Following his release, the actor reunited with his family at his Jubilee Hills residence and addressed the media. In a press conference, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and clarified his role in the tragic event.
“We are extremely sorry for the family. I will personally be there to help them in whatever way possible. I was inside the theatre watching a movie with my family, and the accident happened outside. It has no direct connection with me. It was purely accidental and unintentional,” he stated.
