Government Degree College Handwara organised a Bicycle race to mark World Bicycle Day

Srinagar: Under the theme of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the NSS department in collaboration with NCC department and sports committee of Government Degree College (GDC), Handwara had organised a ‘Bicycle race’ on the eve of ‘World Bicycle Day’. 

The race was flagged off by GDC Principal, Professor Dilruba Hamdani, from Langate Chowk early on Friday morning in presence of the faculty, officials from the Police Department, Health care workers, and the media. 

The race culminated in the premises of the college. The event witnessed overwhelming participation of 40 student cyclists from remote areas of Handwara.

The first position was bagged by Yawar Kabir, student of fifth semester. The second and third positions were bagged by Vikas Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad respectively. 

Superintendent of Police (Handwara), Block Medical Officer (Handwara) and Lieutenant Colonel Arvindar Singh provided all the possible administrative support in making this event successful. The event was concluded by felicitating the participants and position holders.
