Mumbai: When everybody thought that Congress was pushing Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to the wall with demands for having a say and share in the state government, comes a major twist in the story.
In the afternoon the Congress leaders expressed their displeasure over the treatment being given to Congress ministers in Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Congress announced that two of their ministers will call on Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray with an agenda of equal share in power and decision making process. The very same day in the evening former chief minister and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis visited met the Chief Minister with request to help people affected by Nisarga cyclone.
It is hard to digest for some political analysts that Fadnavis met Uddhav with request to help the cyclone affected people. In the afternoon when he was in Ratnagiri district his tone and tenor was very harsh and slammed government very hard. But after the Congress media interaction was over his attitude changed. After meeting the Chief Minister facing the media the softer tone conveyed it all, said a Congress leader.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson Sachin Sawant openly thanked Fadnavis for meeting the Chief Minister and requesting relief to cyclone affected people. But one cannot miss the taunt in his language when he said thanks “for not visiting governor”.
“BJP is an opportunistic party. Now they feel that by showing support to Uddhav they can get them the political benefit so they are trying their luck, but our Aghadi is strong and they will not be able to destabilize the MVA government”, he said.
While a BJP leader while speaking on conditions of anonymity said that the Shiv Sena is our old ally and there is nothing wrong if Fadnavis stands by Uddhav in difficult time, but do not read too much from yesterday meeting. It was for cyclone affected people. Fadnavis met the Chief Minister as the Leader of Opposition and submitted a memorandum to him.
