Hazaribagh: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP state president Babulal Marandi’s wife and daughter-in-law were allegedly assaulted by members of the Amrit Nagar Puja Committee in Hazaribagh, raising concerns over law and order in the district.

According to the FIR filed by Preeti Kisku, Marandi’s daughter-in-law, the incident took place around 7:15 pm while she and her mother-in-law were traveling from Giridih to Ranchi. Kisku alleged that committee members first assaulted their driver, who sustained serious injuries, after she intervened and protested their actions.

Eyewitnesses claimed that police personnel were present at the scene when the incident occurred. Preeti Kisku has urged authorities to take strict action against the members of the Puja Committee. In response, the Hazaribagh police have registered a complaint and launched an investigation.

Babulal Marandi served as the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand from November 2000 to March 2003, following the formation of the state. He is also the founder of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik), which he later merged with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Authorities are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to determine the exact circumstances that led to the alleged assault. The incident has drawn public attention and raised questions about personal safety and law enforcement effectiveness in the area.
