It formally started functioning on June 1, 1986 in Trehgam Army Camp and later moved to its present premises. The school has been functioning under Operation Sadbhavana of the Indian Army and has been imparting quality education for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) children in the area. The school has recently been taken under the wings of Indrani Balan Foundation, Pune.

With a view to strengthen the school and alumni connect, an Alumni meet was organised in the school premises. All the Alumni were reached out by the school staff personally and they were profoundly happy for the meet. While a few couldn’t manage a day off from their routine, 47 Alumni made it for the day. The day-long celebration was attended by children of class 5th to class 8th and the entire School Management Committee of the Indian Army were present.

The Alumni were welcomed with a welcome dance by class 6th girls and class 8th girls showcased a Kashmiri dance. It was followed by a series of speeches by the Alumni sharing their views and the life journey post their schooling, which turned out to be a meeting of inspirations igniting the aspirations. It is pertinent to mention here that Alumni of the institution have achieved remarkable feats in medicine, science, engineering and even have made it to Indian Army by qualifying various competitive examinations.

Among those attending, four were engineers, two were Doctors, five were Army-men and seven were in various govt departments. Some of them are engaged in preparation for the Civil Service Examinations. The Alumni of the school have excelled in almost all walks of life and have become ambassadors of good citizenry. The Indian Army looks after the curriculum and frames disciplinary guidelines for the institution.

On the occasion, the commendable efforts of the teachers in carving the lives true to their values were acknowledged and recognised. Principal Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh extended the vote of thanks and the HAGS as a Family took pledge to work in the best endeavours of the institution.
