Fadnavis Salutes Soldiers at Janmashtami Dahi Handi, Says ‘Pot of Sins Broken, Change is Coming’

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday invoked both tradition and patriotism while addressing the Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.

At the Ghatkopar celebrations organised by MLA Ram Kadam, the CM said the event was dedicated to the bravery of Indian soldiers. “On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, grand Dahi Handi programs are being organised across Mumbai, and in Ghatkopar, MLA Ram Kadam has organised a Dahi Handi dedicated to the soldiers of Operation Sindoor. In Operation Sindoor, under the leadership of PM Modi, our soldiers broke the ‘Handi’ of Pakistan’s sins, and today, all our soldiers are being saluted,” Fadnavis declared.

Extending greetings to citizens, the Chief Minister added, “This festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mumbai and across Maharashtra. No matter how much it rains, the enthusiasm of our Govindas cannot be dampened.”

He further struck an optimistic note: “Change is bound to happen because the pot of sins has already been broken. Now a new pot is about to be set, and we will work to distribute its butter to all sections of society.”

The festival saw large-scale celebrations across the city despite heavy rains. Human pyramids rose in multiple neighbourhoods as crowds cheered on the Govinda Pathaks.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde joined the Anand Dighe Dahi Handi in Thane, organised by the Tembi Naka Mitra Mandal. The event drew a massive crowd and featured prominent guests, including actor Sharad Kelkar, who shared the stage with political leaders.
