Mumbai: Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday assured the devotees and temple trustees of ensuring renovation of the Viroba temple, at Arewadi, in Sangli district. He added that a proposal would be soon sent to the Centre in this regard. He visited the temple where the Shri Biroba Yatra is currently going on. The temple committee and community welcomed the Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly.
The temple management committee presented him a traditional blanket, a stick with a bell and a turban. While accepting the gift, Fadnavis said to pursue the funds with the Centre. “When I was the chief minister, I had sanctioned Rs 5 crore and some work has been done so far. Gopichand Padalkar, (BJP MLC) told me that a development plan of Rs 165 crore is ready and would be soon sent to the Centre. I assure you that we would seek the funds from the Centre,” the BJP leader said.
Praising the tradition to visit the temple, Fadnavis said it is the deity of the Dhangar community and others. “People come from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh. I am confident that the Centre would be positive to lend financial help for this temple which is popular at the national level. I have appealed to the lord Viroba to bless us all,” he said.
State BJP president Chandrakant Patil, Pravin Darekar, Sadabhau Khot, Gopichand Padalkar and Sudhir Gadgil were present during the visit of Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis.
