Mumbai: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Krishna Hegde has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, calling for urgent action against Ponzi scheme operators in the state. Hegde highlighted the plight of thousands of investors who have been duped of tens of thousands of crores through fraudulent schemes promising high returns.

Hegde pointed out specific cases involving entities like Bliss Consultants, Goodwin Jewellers, Ambar Dalal, and Torres Jewellers, which have collectively scammed countless individuals. He noted that while some action has been taken—leading to arrests and freezing of assets—several operators remain on bail or absconding, while others continue to deceive unsuspecting investors.

In his letter, Hegde urged the Chief Minister to direct the police to intensify their crackdown on active Ponzi scheme operators to prevent further financial loss to the public.

Furthermore, Hegde has requested CM Fadnavis to expedite the process of refunding the ₹170 crores frozen in the Bliss Consultants share scam. He emphasized that the funds, which were secured with the help of the government, should be refunded to the investors through court intervention.

Hegde has also approached the court to ensure justice for the victims of these fraudulent schemes, seeking refunds for the aggrieved investors.

This call for action sheds light on the need for stricter regulations and enforcement to curb such fraudulent practices and safeguard public investments in Maharashtra.
