Kolkata: In a major enforcement action, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched simultaneous raids at 10 locations across Kolkata on Friday morning, including the office of West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose, in connection with two separate money laundering cases in the state.
One of the cases relates to the multi-crore cash-for-municipalities jobs scam, while the other concerns alleged bank loan forgery. The ED’s operations at Bose’s Salt Lake office specifically pertain to the municipal jobs irregularities investigation.
Raids are also underway at several other locations, including New Alipore, Sarat Bose Road, and Nagerbajar, with teams targeting the residences of key individuals, including a prominent Calcutta High Court advocate in New Alipore. Each ED team is accompanied by personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure security.
This is not the first instance of ED scrutiny for Sujit Bose. In January 2024, his residence and office were raided in connection with the same municipalities jobs case, with officials seizing documents and his mobile phone as part of the probe.
