Eleven senior Shivsainik’s to felicitate Uddhav Thackeray on Jan 23 for keeping his promise to late Sena chief


Mumbai: In an attempt to counter the show of strength of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) earlier in the day on January 23, Eleven senior Shivsainik’s from Mumbai will be publicly felicitating their party president and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray at MMRDA grounds in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Thursday evening. All eyes will be on the Sena president and Chief Minister as to what he tells his party cadres after what his estranged cousin brother and MNS president Raj Thackeray says earlier in the day.

The Sena has chosen the occasion of 94th birth anniversary of late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray to felicitate his son, their party president and its Chief Minister. In a carefully drafted press statement, the Sena says that Shiv Sena president and Maharashtra’s most loved Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on behalf of all the Shivsainik’s  will be felicitated at a grand public reception at BKC’s MMRDA ground, for having kept the promise he had made to late Hindurhiday Samrat Shiv Sena pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray.

The felicitation coincides with the birth anniversary of late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray. Sena president Uddhav Thackeray took oath as Maharashtra’s 19th Chief Minister at Shivaji Park, Dadar on November 28, 2019. It may be recalled that Uddhav Thackeray had contended that he had made a promise to his father late Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray that one day he will install a Shivsainik as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Thackeray will be felicitated by 11 senior Shivsainik’s from Mumbai on behalf of the party. The felicitation function is being organised by Sena’s Minister for Public Transport, Adv Anil Parab.

The felicitation programme will be followed by a musical and cultural programme that comprises of popular Marathi film and theatre personalities. Amongst those who are likely to perform at the event include – Shankar Mahadevan, Avadhut Gupte, Abhijit Kelkar, Mayuresh Pem, Bela Shende, Sonali Kulkarni, Amruta Khanvilkar, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreyas Talpade, the star cast of popular Marathi Tv show – “Chala Hava Yeu Dya” – Nilesh Sable, Bhau Kadam, Kushal Badrike, Bharat Ganeshpure and Shreya Bugde.

Besides these other artists who are to perform at the event include – Sukhvinder Singh, Shiv Mani (Jugalbandi), music composer duo Ajay-Atul, sand craft artist Nitish Bharti. Famous actor Subodh Bhave, Abhijit Khandkekar, Sharad Kelkar and Madhura Velankar will compare the show. Shiv Sena president and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will later address the event, states the Sena press release issued here on Wednesday.
