Eknath Shinde’s Sena Leader Meets Actor Govinda Amid Speculations of Lok Sabha Candidacy

In a significant development, Eknath Shinde’s Sena leader Krishna Hegde recently held a crucial meeting with Bollywood actor Govinda at his residence in Mumbai’s Juhu. The rendezvous has sparked intense speculation regarding Govinda’s potential candidacy for the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming elections.

Sources suggest that Eknath Shinde, in a strategic move, is contemplating fielding Govinda against Amol Kirtikar, the candidate nominated by Shiv Sena (UBT). Amol, the son of sitting MP Gajanan Kirtikar, has been chosen as the Sena’s representative for the constituency. However, complications arise as Gajanan Kirtikar, despite joining Shinde’s camp, is reluctant to contest against his own son, leaving a void in the opposition against Amol Kirtikar.

In light of the absence of a formidable opponent to challenge Amol Kirtikar, Eknath Shinde is reportedly exploring the possibility of nominating Govinda as the Sena’s candidate. The move comes after earlier speculations of talks with Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit for the same seat, but now Govinda’s name has emerged as a frontrunner.

The meeting between Govinda and Krishna Hegde, a close aide of Eknath Shinde, fuels further speculation about Govinda’s potential entry into the political arena. The prospect of Govinda contesting the upcoming general elections against Uddhav Thackeray, though not officially confirmed, is gaining momentum with each passing day.

Govinda’s foray into politics is not unprecedented, as he achieved a significant political upset in 2004 by defeating the sitting MP and BJP veteran Ram Naik. His victory resonated widely, establishing him as a formidable force in the political landscape.
