The Election Commission has suspended five Diamond Harbour police officers over alleged misconduct during the West Bengal Assembly elections

Patna: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 6, 2025, officially announced the schedule for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Bihar. With this announcement, the ECI has directed the Chief Secretary and the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar to enforce the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) immediately across the state.

The MCC will also apply to the Central Government in matters concerning announcements or policy decisions related to Bihar, ensuring a level playing field during the election period, the ECI stated. This step marks the formal commencement of the election process, setting the stage for political campaigns, candidate nominations, and other election-related activities under the strict guidelines of the MCC.

The enforcement of the MCC is aimed at preventing any misuse of official power or resources and maintaining the integrity and fairness of the electoral process in Bihar.
