New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC 2025) on Wednesday, celebrating India’s rapid progress in digital technology and telecommunications. Addressing the gathering, Modi reflected on the nation’s journey from the 2G era to the widespread rollout of 5G across almost every district of India.

“When I talked about ‘Make in India,’ many people made fun of it. During their time, it took a considerable amount of time for new technology to reach India. The nation has responded to it. The country that once struggled with 2G, today, 5G has reached almost every district of the same nation,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi also emphasized the evolution of IMC itself. “IMC events are no longer limited to just mobile or telecom. In just a few years, this IMC event has become Asia’s largest digital technology forum. This success story was written by India’s tax-saving mindset, led by our youth and talented individuals, accelerated by our innovators and startups. It has been possible because today the government stands firmly behind the country’s talent and capabilities,” he added.

The India Mobile Congress 2025, now recognized as Asia’s premier digital technology forum, showcases India’s advancements in 5G, telecom infrastructure, startups, and innovation. Industry leaders, tech innovators, and policymakers from across the globe are participating to explore new opportunities in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and smart technologies.
