Srinagar: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Handwara police apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized a quantity of contraband drugs during a routine patrol on GMC Handwara Road.
The accused, identified as Abdul Wahid Bhat, son of Abdul Khaliq Bhat and a resident of Turkpora Zachaldara, was intercepted by a team from police station Handwara led by the Station House Officer (SHO). Upon searching the individual, authorities recovered 9.14 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar.
The accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law at Handwara police station. An investigation is underway to identify further links and possible networks associated with the case.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious or drug-related activities to the nearest police station or by calling the helpline at 112. Authorities have emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating drug trafficking and assured strict action against individuals involved in such illicit activities.
