Srinagar: The late Colonel Santosh Mahadik Glassdaji Premier League was organised in Glassdaji Coy from October 28 to November 13 in which 12 teams participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. The League was organised in conjunction with the Youth Association in Manigah. The final match was played between DPL XI & Brothers XI, which the DPL XI won by 19 runs in a close contest.
A cash prize of ₹ 5000 was awarded to the winning team along with a trophy and individual medals and trophies were presented to all the players who participated in the final. A cash prize of ₹ 500 each was given to the Man of the match and Man of the Series.
The aim of this tournament was to provide the youth with an opportunity to showcase their talent and channelise their energy in the right direction. The Local populace requested to conduct more of such tournaments in future.
Late Colonel Santosh Mahadik was the Commanding Officer of the 41 Rashtriya Rifles. He was critically injured during the operation in Haji Naka Forest area of Kupwara near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir in November 2015 and succumbed to his injuries later. The cricket premier league is held in his memory.
