Navi Mumbai: After registering the complaint against BJP MLA and former minister Ganesh Naik for disowning her and their son after 27 year long relationship. Dipa Chauhan is set to fight her battle even by joining politics and contesting the upcoming elections. Always keen to join politics, Dipa expressed her desire to join politics and contest civic or assembly elections if given an opportunity.
“I am strong and I will fight it till the end irrespective of the consequences. Yes, if I get the chance off-course, I will contest the election,” said Dipa, who has registered a complaint with the State Women Commission, about injustice happening to herself and her son.
Speaking to thenews21.com Dipa said, “I will join Shiv Sena or Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), wherever I get respectful treatment. I have been denied social respect for many years. Besides, Ganesh Naik has grown to this level only by being in NCP. Whatever he is today, it’s because of the NCP. So, stepping in his footsteps I will join Shiv Sena or NCP.”
Before joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019, Ganesh Naik was in the NCP and Labour and Excise cabinet minister in the NCP-Congress Government. Prior to 1999 Ganesh Naik was a minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP led government of 1995-99.
Further, Dipa’s lawyer Lucy Maffey, claimed that they are demanding justice from the system without maligning the image of ex-minister Ganesh Naik.
“We do not want to malign the private or political image of Ganesh Naik, but our struggle is only to demand justice for my client and her son. Who have been denied their right for so many years,” Maffey confirmed that if required Dipa has also demanded a DNA test of Ganesh Naik, if he denies the relationship?
Maffey alleged that ex-minister Ganesh Naik even brought Dipa back from the United States (US) when she was married there by her family. “Dipa met Ganesh Naik at age of 19 when she was naïve to a man-woman relationship. Following this her family married her in the United States in 2002, but Naik broke that marriage and forced her to return and stay with him in India. Till three years back he used to spend three days in a week at her residence,” said Advocate Lucy Massey.
On the other hand, Navi Mumbai Shiv Sena extended complete support both socially and politically to Dipa Chauhan, if she joins Shiv Sena. “Our party heads will decide who should be allowed to join Shiv Sena, but our women’s wing will extend complete support to Chauhan for securing justice,” said Vijay Chaugule, former NMMC opposition leader and Shiv Sena Leader from Navi Mumbai.
