A fresh controversy has erupted after a video allegedly showing former BJP MP Dilip Ghosh discriminating against Muslim women during a blanket distribution programme went viral across social media platforms, triggering outrage and sharp political reactions.
The video, widely shared on X, Facebook and Instagram, has reignited debates around communal bias and the conduct of public representatives during welfare activities.
What the Video Allegedly Shows
In the viral clip, Dilip Ghosh is seen participating in what appears to be a public blanket distribution drive. As women line up to receive blankets, he is heard asking a few of them their names. According to the visuals circulating online, once it becomes apparent that some of the women are Muslims, the former MP allegedly asks for the blankets to be taken back.
The video further captures him purportedly saying that those who abuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not be given blankets, a remark that many social media users claim was directed at Muslim beneficiaries present at the event.
Moments later, party workers are allegedly instructed to separate Muslim women from the rest of the group, making them sit aside, intensifying accusations of religious discrimination.
Public Confrontation Caught on Camera
As the former MP prepares to leave the venue in his vehicle, a man from the gathered crowd is seen confronting him. The man questions the fairness of the act and asks how such behaviour can be justified in a democratic country where welfare schemes are meant for all citizens, regardless of religion or political belief.
This exchange, also captured in the video, has further fueled anger online.
