Srinagar: The picturesque Hajinard village of Karnah in Kupwara district on Tuesday witnessed a mega Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme to generate awareness regarding value of exercising franchise and ensure larger voter turnout in the upcoming assembly elections. The 90 member Jammu and Kashmir assembly goes to polls in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes will be taken up on October 8.
During a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program held at the Government. Middle School Hajinard, the District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan emphasized the importance of students as brand ambassadors for the assembly elections. The DEO highlighted that students play a crucial role in motivating their parents and other community members to participate in the voting process. By spreading awareness and encouraging voter turnout, students can significantly contribute to the democratic process.
During the programme, a series of events were conducted by students where students actively participated in several initiatives aimed at promoting voter awareness and engagement. These activities included a proactive debate and essay competition focused on the importance of voting. Additionally, students created posters and slogans, to encourage their peers and community members to exercise their right to vote.
The highlight of the Mega SVEEP programme at Middle School Hajinard was a scintillating cultural programme which captivated the audience with its vibrant performances. The programme performed by students featured a variety of cultural performances, including traditional dances, music, and skits, focused around the theme of voter awareness and the importance of participating in elections. The engaging performances not only entertained but also effectively conveyed the message of the significance of voting, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
SVEEP programme was attended by RO Karnah, Deputy DEO Kupwara, ZEO Tangdhar/ Nodal officer SVEEP and other officers.
