Delhi’s air quality showed significant improvement on Wednesday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) dropping to 211, nearing the ‘moderate’ category. The improvement comes after the city’s AQI stood at 268 on Tuesday, falling under the ‘poor’ category.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI at 8 am on Wednesday was recorded at 211. The AQI scale categorizes air quality as follows: 0-50 ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe’. With the AQI falling into the ‘moderate’ range, residents of Delhi experienced some relief after a week of deteriorating air quality.

Delhi has seen a consistent improvement in air quality this week. On Monday, the AQI was recorded at 273, and on Sunday, it stood at 285. The decrease in pollution levels on Wednesday was attributed to favorable weather conditions, including lower temperatures and moderate winds, which helped disperse pollutants.

As of Wednesday, 15 out of the 39 monitoring stations in the city recorded ‘moderate’ air quality, while the rest reported ‘poor’ air quality. Despite the improvement, pollution levels remain a concern, with parts of the city still experiencing unhealthy air quality levels.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature on Wednesday was 12 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above the season’s average. The humidity level was recorded at 68 percent at 8:30 am.

The weather department has forecast shallow fog throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius. Authorities continue to urge residents to take precautions to limit exposure to pollution, particularly those with respiratory conditions.
