New Delhi – Delhi Police has intensified efforts to arrest AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan after registering a case against him for allegedly obstructing a police operation in Jamia Nagar. The incident reportedly led to the escape of a suspect wanted in a murder case.

Teams from Jamia Nagar police station, South East District, and the Crime Branch are conducting raids to locate and detain Khan. Sources from India Today suggest that he may seek anticipatory bail from the Delhi High Court.

The controversy erupted when the Delhi Police Crime Branch attempted to arrest Shahbaz Khan, who was facing an attempt-to-murder charge. Amanatullah Khan allegedly intervened, challenging the legitimacy of the arrest and asserting that the accused was not a criminal. The confrontation escalated, creating a chaotic situation that allowed Shahbaz Khan to escape.

Police officials claim that the MLA and his supporters obstructed the arrest operation, delaying it and enabling the suspect to flee. Following this, the Crime Branch lodged a case against Khan, booking him under eight charges, including organised crime.
