New Delhi: Following the heavy rainfall that caused significant waterlogging in various parts of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the ongoing situation, acknowledging the challenges faced by residents in the city. Speaking to the media on Friday, Gupta stated, “This disease, which we have got from the previous government, will take time to be cured. Today, the Chief Minister of Delhi herself is passing through those roads where thousands of Delhiites are stuck in traffic jams. The government is fully prepared to fix these problems.”

Gupta emphasized that officials are actively working on clearing the roads and addressing the waterlogging issues. “It is our responsibility to fix all these arrangements on time,” she added, assuring the public that efforts are being made to restore normalcy in the affected areas.

The recent rainfall has led to severe traffic congestion in several parts of Delhi, with major routes submerged in water. Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, and Dwarka were among the most impacted areas, where commuters experienced long delays during rush hours. The situation worsened with poor drainage systems failing to handle the downpour, exacerbating the problem for citizens.

The Delhi government has now mobilized additional resources to speed up the cleanup efforts, and the public works department is in the process of repairing and maintaining critical infrastructure. Gupta’s comments reflect the government’s commitment to tackling the issue and improving the city’s drainage systems for future rainfall events.
