Mumbai: In response to circulating rumors about a potential merger of the Nationalist Congress Parties (NCP), Vikas Lawande, spokesperson for the NCP (SP), dismissed any possibility of such an alliance, calling the news “baseless.” The NCP (SP) leader addressed the speculation on Friday, asserting that the idea of both NCP factions coming together is nothing more than a rumor.

“News of both Nationalist Congress Parties coming together has been circulating for a long time,” Lawande said. “In reality, there is no possibility of this happening. These are just rumors. The idea of both parties coming together can only be considered if Ajit Pawar and his associates leave the reactionary BJP and exit the grand alliance.”

Lawande’s remarks come amid growing political speculation in Maharashtra regarding the future of the NCP. Ajit Pawar, the senior leader of NCP, had previously made headlines for his shift in allegiance towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which sparked controversy within the party ranks. Lawande’s comments underscore the NCP (SP) position that any potential merger would be contingent on Pawar’s departure from the BJP-led alliance.

The statement has sparked fresh debates within political circles about the future of the NCP and its relationship with its allies.
