Chennai: In a swift political move on Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin removed K Ponmudy, the state’s Forest Minister, from his position as Deputy General Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) following a controversy sparked by his offensive remarks. The remarks, which have caused widespread outrage, involved a distasteful joke comparing Shaivites and Vaishnavites to a sex worker.
