Mumbai : Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Harshavardhan Sapkal announced a Sadbhavana Padayatra to promote social harmony and revive Maharashtra Dharma. The two-day, 51-km march will commence from Massajog in Beed district on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The march will pass through Bhagwangad, Narayangad, Nandur Phata, Yelamb, Neknur, Manjarsumbha, and Pali, concluding with a Sadbhavana gathering in Beed city on March 9.

Sapkal emphasized that Maharashtra, shaped by icons like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sant Tukaram, and Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, has always upheld progressive values. However, recent attempts to divide society on caste lines threaten its rich heritage. The Congress Party, rooted in social harmony and constitutional values, is taking proactive steps to counter such divisive forces.

The march also aims to address gender imbalances in Beed, historically affected by female foeticide. Sapkal called upon youth, women, students, journalists, and social activists to participate in this initiative.

At a meeting of Congress district presidents at Tilak Bhavan, attended by AICC Secretary Kunal Choudhary, MP Kalyan Kale, and Pradesh Vice President Ganesh Patil, key organizational strategies were discussed. Additionally, a state office-bearers’ meeting is scheduled for February 25.

Addressing political remarks made at the Delhi Marathi Literature Conference, Sapkal stressed that such forums should facilitate meaningful discourse rather than political rhetoric. The Congress Party also plans similar Sadbhavana Yatras in Parbhani and other locations in the near future.
