Jaipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi in connection with the alleged ₹900 crore scam under the Jal Jeevan Mission during the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government.

Joshi, who served as the Minister for Water Supply, was taken into custody late Thursday evening after nearly six hours of questioning by ED officials. He was produced before the PMLA court on Friday and has been remanded to four days in ED custody.

A close aide of former CM Ashok Gehlot, Joshi is accused of awarding tenders to companies that allegedly submitted forged experience certificates to secure contracts. The ED has so far arrested four others in the case, including contractors and one of Joshi’s close associates.

Responding to his arrest, Joshi said, “A case has been made against me. I have not done anything wrong and have not taken money from anyone. Action has been taken against me based on statements from individuals against whom I had taken action. I have full faith in the law and order of the country and hope to get justice.”
