New Delhi: BJP leader Amit Malviya has launched a sharp attack on the Congress after party spokesperson Shama Mohamed’s remarks on Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma sparked controversy. Malviya accused Congress of attempting to demoralize the national team ahead of the Champions Trophy and called the remarks a reflection of the party’s disdain for India’s sporting icons.

“The Congress, which has lost over 90 elections under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, is now body-shaming the Indian cricket captain at a time when our national team is in pursuit of the Champions Trophy! This is a premeditated put-down to undermine the team’s morale at a crucial time. Their disdain for our icons is apparent. They resent a self-confident India,” Malviya posted on X.

Congress, in damage control mode, quickly distanced itself from Shama Mohamed’s remarks. Party leader Pawan Khera clarified that her comments do not reflect the official position of the party and that she had been advised to delete the post.
