Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday officially inaugurated Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar, signifying the start of the annual tulip bloom that draws thousands of tourists from across the country and abroad.

Nestled at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range with a scenic view of Dal Lake, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden (IGMTG) spans over 30 hectares. The garden showcases millions of tulips in a wide spectrum of vibrant colours, offering visitors an unparalleled visual experience.

Established in 2007 to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, the garden has become a flagship destination in the region. Officials anticipate a record influx of visitors this year, as the inauguration marks the onset of the tourist season in the valley.

The Tulip Garden has significantly contributed to enhancing the region’s tourism potential and plays a crucial role in supporting the local economy by attracting both domestic and international travellers.
