Mumbai: Comedian Kunal Kamra, who recently sparked controversy over his parody act targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has now claimed that T-Series has issued a copyright infringement notice against his video. Kamra took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday to share a screenshot, alleging that his satire video has been flagged by YouTube for copyright violation.

“Hello T-Series… Parody & Satire come under fair use legally. I haven’t used the lyrics or the original instrumental of the song. If you take this video down, every cover song/dance video can be taken down. Creators please take note of it,” Kamra posted. He further accused corporate monopolies of acting like a “mafia” and urged viewers to watch or download the video before it was removed.

The controversy erupted last week when Kamra performed a parody song mocking Eknath Shinde in one of his stand-up acts. The video quickly gained traction online, angering Shinde’s supporters. In retaliation, Shiv Sena activists vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where Kamra’s show had taken place, along with parts of the hotel housing the club.

Despite mounting pressure, Kamra has refused to back down. “I will not apologise or hide under the bed waiting for the controversy to die down,” he stated in a late-night message on Monday.

The Khar police have since registered an FIR against Kamra based on a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, accusing him of making defamatory remarks against Shinde.
