Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday addressed the controversy surrounding BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s recent remarks, clarifying that Dubey’s comments were not aimed at the common Marathi people, but at certain organizations allegedly responsible for escalating tensions.
“Whatever Nishikant Dubey has said, he has not said it for the common Marathi people, but for those organisations which have fuelled this controversy,” Fadnavis told reporters, seeking to calm growing backlash from across the state.
However, Fadnavis didn’t offer blanket support to the BJP MP. “I believe that Nishikant Dubey’s statement was not completely correct,” he admitted, in a rare move of subtle criticism against a fellow party leader.
