Srinagar: In these times of Corona pandemic, notwithstanding security concerns, Kupwara district civic and police officials also took upon the task of ensuring people got quality and hygienic food and essential items.
Acting on the directions District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara Imam Din, a team of officers headed by Tehsildar Handwara Ajaz Ahmad along with Naib Tehsildar Bashir Ahmad including SHO Handwara Parvaiz Ahmad and Municipal Committee (MC) conducted surprise market checking at Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
According to the officials a team comprising officials from the revenue department, municipal market committee Handwara and J&K Police Handwara checked various establishments in the market.
The inspection team checked the quality, hygiene condition, expiry date and rate lists of food items and other essential commodities including Vegetables, Bakery items and essential food items are mentioned. During the market checking the vegetables, fruit shops and fish market were inspected and the rotten vegetables, fruits, expired items were destroyed on the spot. The team collected Rs.12,500 as fine from the errant shopkeepers on the spot.
While talking to the media Tehsildar Handwara said that general public can approach the officials directly for any complaint of over pricing and other violations. General public welcomed the step taken by Tehsildar of Handwara.
