New Delhi: In a landmark political transition, Vice-President-elect C P Radhakrishnan will be sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday at 10 am in the historic halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan, officials confirmed.

The 67-year-old former Maharashtra Governor secured victory in the Vice Presidential polls held on Tuesday, defeating joint opposition candidate B Sudershan Reddy by a decisive margin of 152 votes. The election was necessitated after Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation on July 21, which left the post vacant.

Immediately after his win, Radhakrishnan stepped down as the Governor of Maharashtra on Thursday. In the interim, President Murmu entrusted Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat with the additional charge of Maharashtra’s governorship.
