Mumbai: A 44-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) constable tragically died by suicide on Thursday while on duty in the Shahgarh area of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, authorities confirmed. The constable, a resident of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, was deployed along the sensitive Indo-Pak border, performing his duties in one of the most challenging terrains in the country.

According to Shahgarh police station in-charge Babu Ram, the incident occurred while the constable was on duty. “He used his service weapon to take his own life. Upon hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him unresponsive,” Ram stated.

The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine further details. Initial reports suggest that the constable may have been facing personal or professional stress, but investigations are ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
