Mumbai: The verbal spat between the Shiv Sena ruled Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday not only turned ugly, but nasty as well. After serving the actor notice for alleged illegal construction at her office, the BMC demolition squad arrived at her Bandra office in the early hours and began the demolition activity.

Matters soon reached the Bombay High Court which directed the BMC to stop the demolition work at actor Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow and file a reply and has posted the matter for hearing at 3 pm on Thursday, September 10.

En-route to Mumbai from her native town in Himachal Pradesh as the BMC started with demolition Kangana had tweeted, “I am never wrong and my enemies prove again and again this is why my Mumbai is POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) now.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist and lawyer, Advocate Vivekananda Gupta citing Bombay High Court order of August 31, stated that the Bombay HC had granted further extension to its July 15 order till September 30. He added that the BMC cannot demolish any property in view of the Covid situation. The Bombay HC has ordered on their own motion, all orders of dispossession/demolition of any Court/Tribunal/ Authority are in abeyance till September 30. Advocate Gupta termed the BMC demolition as a clear contempt of the court.

Kangana Ranaut has once again openly challenged Shiv Sena chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut by making comments as the actor was on her way to Mumbai. But before she could land in Mumbai, BMC started demolition in her absence. In her tweets Kangana has once again said that Mumbai is POK.

In her earlier tweets, the actor has termed BMC as Babar comments she has said “The first film in Manikarnika films, Ayodhya was announced, it is not a building for me but it is Ram temple itself, today Babur has come there, today history will repeat itself Ram temple will be demolished again but remember Babar, this temple will be built again, this temple will be built again, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Shri Ram.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday started the demolition of structural violations carried out at actor Kangana Ranaut’s office Manikarnika in Pali Hill area of suburban Bandra. A team of BMC and police personnel in large numbers were deployed at the time of demolition.

When ‘The News 21’ spoke to Vinayak Vispute, assistant municipal commissioner, BMC, H-West Ward he said: “We had given her 24 hour time to produce the relevant documents pertaining to the alterations if she fails to do so in a given time, then demolition will be initiated.

As per the civic rules, any structure has to be built in line with the plan submitted to the local authorities. Any illegal changes in the plan or alterations in the structure attract legal action.

On Tuesday, BMC had issued a notice to Ranaut over several structural violations carried out in her office while asking her to respond within 24 hours and take corrective measures, failing which “the illegal portions” would be demolished.

Later, Ranaut’s lawyer had written to the BMC authorities asking seven days to respond to the notice, instead of 24 hours. The lawyer had cited that the notice is legally untenable.

“As I am all set for a Mumbai darshan on my way to the airport, Maharashtra government and their goons are at my property. They are all set to illegally break it down. Go on! I promised to give blood for Maharashtra’s pride. This is nothing. Take everything, but my spirit will only soar higher,” she tweeted on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has said that Kangana is travelling from other state and she has to be in  home quarantine.
