In a significant statement ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that the state’s next Chief Minister will be from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to India TV sources. Addressing a key meeting with BJP leaders in Mumbai on Tuesday (October 1), Shah expressed confidence that the Mahayuti alliance will form the government once again in Maharashtra.

“No party has the strength to stop it from happening,” Shah remarked, according to a report by India TV. He underscored the BJP’s strong position within the Mahayuti alliance, which includes Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The meeting was attended by senior leaders, including Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar, among others.

Shah further mentioned that following the alliance’s victory in the upcoming elections, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would be implemented in the state, adding, “Devendra Fadnavis is more than capable of addressing Maharashtra’s challenges.”

He also urged BJP workers to focus on increasing their vote share by 10%, which he said could lead to securing 20-30 additional seats for the party. “Even if members from other parties join us, BJP workers will be given proper respect and positions within the organization,” Shah reportedly assured, as quoted by India TV sources.

While the Election Commission has yet to announce the schedule for the state elections, this high-level meeting signals the BJP’s intent to secure a dominant position in the forthcoming polls.
