Delhi: Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, unveiling an ‘Aarop Patra’ (chargesheet) that holds the ruling party accountable for unfulfilled promises and rising issues in the capital.
BJP leaders, including MP Anurag Singh Thakur and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, participated in the event, which aimed to highlight AAP’s failures during its tenure.
Thakur accused the Delhi government of betraying the promises made to the people, citing specific examples of underperformance. “They promised to make Delhi’s schools world-class, yet over 200,000 students remain deprived of education,” Thakur said. “They vowed to provide 24/7 clean and free water, but today, thousands of families are forced to buy water from tankers.”
Thakur also criticized the healthcare situation, emphasizing that AAP’s promise of free clinics and large hospitals had not materialized. “Today, 70% of patients are compelled to seek treatment in private hospitals,” he added, further attacking the government’s failure to address pollution. He pointed out the alarming AQI levels in Delhi, which recently soared above 500, even crossing 1200 at one point.
The BJP leader also referenced the issue of Yamuna pollution, blaming Kejriwal’s government for its degradation. “People from Purvanchal used to perform Chhath Puja with devotion on the banks of the Yamuna, but now the river is so polluted that they can no longer celebrate the festival,” Thakur said. He continued, questioning whether the Yamuna had been cleaned in the last ten years, as promised.
Thakur’s criticisms also extended to water supply issues, asserting that while the Prime Minister’s Jal Jeevan Mission had ensured water access to people, Kejriwal’s government had obstructed its implementation in Delhi.
In response, Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP have maintained their stance on these issues, with the Chief Minister dismissing BJP’s allegations as politically motivated. As the election season heats up, both parties are intensifying their attacks, aiming to capture the crucial Delhi vote bank.
