Delhi: In a heated exchange over national integrity, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday accused the Congress of displaying distorted Indian maps during a convention in Belagavi, Karnataka. The alleged incident has sparked controversy, with Trivedi asserting that the Congress is disrespecting India’s sovereignty.
The accusations stemmed from a tweet by the Karnataka BJP unit (@BJP4Karnataka), which claimed the Congress presented a map that excluded Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin, territories integral to India. The tweet read, “Congress has shown utter disrespect for India’s sovereignty by displaying a distorted map at their Belagavi event, portraying Kashmir as part of Pakistan. All this just to appease their vote bank. This is shameful!”
Trivedi, addressing the media, expressed his anguish over the issue. “Today, as our nation observes Veer Bal Divas to honor sacrifice and bravery, Congress is using a distorted map of India. This hurts the sentiments of every Indian. They have even placed this map alongside a photograph of Mahatma Gandhi. Such actions raise serious questions about Congress’ intent and their ties to forces aiming to undermine India,” he said.
The BJP leader further alleged that this is not the first instance of the Congress engaging in such activities. “It has become evident that Congress has connections with entities working to weaken India’s unity and sovereignty,” Trivedi added.
The Congress is yet to issue an official response to these allegations. The incident has ignited a political storm, with BJP leaders demanding accountability and action against those responsible.
