Delhi: In a significant escalation ahead of the upcoming elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Thursday its decision to approach the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against BJP leaders Parvesh Verma and Manjinder Sirsa, accusing them of offering cash to voters in a bid to influence elections.
Addressing the media, AAP leader Sanjay Singh stated that he would personally visit the ED office in New Delhi to lodge a formal complaint. “BJP leaders are openly distributing money to voters while investigative agencies like ED and CBI turn a blind eye. These agencies only become active when targeting opposition leaders,” Singh alleged.
Singh further demanded that Verma’s residence be raided by the ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department, claiming bribe money was being stored there. He urged authorities to take swift action and seize the alleged funds.
In response, BJP MP Parvesh Verma dismissed the accusations, reiterating his commitment to public service. “No matter the criticism, I will continue to help those in need,” Verma said, standing firm amid the allegations.
The accusations come amid a broader war of words between AAP and rival parties. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi accused the BJP of colluding with Congress to undermine her party in the Delhi elections. She alleged that the BJP was funding Congress candidates, including senior leader Sandeep Dixit.
“Congress leaders have filed cases against me and Kejriwal but have never taken action against BJP leaders. Their actions clearly show they are working hand-in-hand with BJP to defeat AAP,” Atishi remarked during a press conference.
The allegations have intensified political tensions, with AAP leaders demanding accountability and transparency from both rival parties and the country’s investigative agencies. As the elections draw closer, this high-stakes political battle shows no signs of abating.
