New Delhi: In a move that quickly garnered attention, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj arrived at the Parliament Annexe building on Monday to attend the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, sporting a bag that carried a bold message: “National Herald Ki Loot.” The bag, with its unmissable slogan, appeared to make a direct and pointed political statement, drawing attention to the BJP’s ongoing criticism of the Congress party over the National Herald case.

The phrase on the bag, which translates to “Loot of National Herald,” reignited discussions around the controversial case that has long been a source of political tension between the Congress and the BJP. For years, the BJP has been accusing the Congress leadership, particularly the Gandhi family, of misappropriating funds through the National Herald newspaper and its associated company, Associated Journals Limited (AJL).

Swaraj’s move came amid significant debate over the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, a matter of national importance that has sparked much discussion in political circles. However, her choice of accessory was seen as a deliberate attempt to bring the National Herald controversy back into the spotlight, highlighting the ongoing political battle over the case.

The BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has continuously targeted Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, over the alleged financial irregularities in the National Herald case. The Congress, on the other hand, has maintained that the case is politically motivated and an attempt to malign the party’s image.
