Bihar Tanishq Heist Accused Shot Dead in STF Encounter, Three Officers Injured

Arrah: One of the prime accused in the sensational Tanishq jewellery showroom heist in Bihar’s Arrah was shot dead in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday. The gunfight also left three STF personnel injured, escalating the high-stakes manhunt for the criminals behind the daring robbery.

According to reports, the joint operation was conducted by the STF, Patna Police, and local officials to apprehend the accused. Despite being asked to surrender, the suspect opened fire on the police, triggering a fierce encounter. He was rushed to a hospital in Narpatganj but was declared dead on arrival. Police have yet to reveal his identity.

The accused was involved in the March 10 robbery, where a gang of armed criminals stormed the Tanishq showroom, held customers and staff hostage, and looted jewellery worth an estimated ₹25 crore. The robbers executed the heist with military-like precision, overpowering security personnel and snatching their weapons.

CCTV footage from the incident has surfaced, showing masked men brandishing pistols, forcing people to raise their hands, and swiftly packing gold, silver, and diamond jewellery into bags before escaping. The criminals had parked their getaway car across the street, ensuring a quick exit after executing their plan.
