Top BJP–JD(U) leaders gear up for crucial Patna ceremony

A major political transition is underway in Bihar, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for April 15 in Patna, according to sources. The Prime Minister is likely to arrive in the Bihar capital on the night of April 14 and stay overnight ahead of the event.

The oath-taking ceremony will be held at the Raj Bhavan premises, marking a key moment in the state’s political landscape.

BJP and JD(U) hold parallel strategy meetings

Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) have called important legislature party meetings on the same day. The BJP is set to hold its meeting at 2 PM at the state party office, where MLAs will elect their legislature party leader in the presence of Union Minister and central observer Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

This will be followed by a larger NDA legislature party meeting later in the evening to finalise leadership decisions.

Meanwhile, the JD(U) will conduct its own meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence at 1 Anne Marg, where party MLAs will choose their legislative leader in the presence of Nitish Kumar and senior leaders.

Samrat Choudhary frontrunner for Chief Minister post

All eyes are currently on Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who has emerged as the leading contender for the Chief Minister’s post. Sources suggest his elevation is nearly final, although an official announcement is still awaited.

Choudhary, who belongs to the influential Koeri community, has seen a rapid political rise—serving as BJP’s state president in 2023 before becoming Deputy CM when the NDA returned to power.

NDA MLAs asked to stay in Patna
