Patna, October 23:
With the Bihar Assembly elections just weeks away, political temperatures rose sharply after two candidates from major parties were arrested, triggering protests and sparking allegations of politically motivated action.

RJD candidate held in 2004 dacoity case

In Rohtas district, RJD candidate Satendra Sah, contesting from Sasaram, was arrested in connection with a 2004 dacoity case registered in Garhwa, Jharkhand.
Police officials said the arrest followed due legal process in a long-pending case, but RJD workers hit the streets alleging vendetta politics.

AIMIM nominee collapses after arrest

In Jehanabad, AIMIM candidate Kalamuddin was taken into custody from the SDM office premises soon after filing his nomination papers.
Wanted in a firing and attempt-to-murder case at the Kako police station, he had been absconding, police said.
Moments before his arrest, Kalamuddin reportedly suffered a heart attack, creating panic at the venue. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced treatment.
His supporters alleged a political conspiracy behind the timing of the action.

Poll implications

The arrests came shortly after AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, announced 25 candidates for the upcoming elections, focusing on marginalised communities and minority representation.
Political analysts say the developments add fresh uncertainty to the electoral landscape, with legal troubles and health emergencies now shaping the campaign narrative in Bihar.
