Patna: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Kumar Singh succumbed to his injuries on Friday (March 14) after being viciously attacked by a family in Bihar’s Munger district. Singh, who was responding to a ruckus caused by an intoxicated family in Nandalpur village, was fatally assaulted, with the assailants striking him on the head, leaving him critically injured.

According to SDPO Abhishek Anand, “ASI Santosh Kumar Singh lost his life after being attacked by individuals in Munger. He was responding to a ruckus created by the family of a man identified as Ranveer Kumar in Nandalpur village under Mufassil police station limits.”

SP Masood confirmed that the family responsible for the assault is currently absconding, and multiple police teams have been formed to track them down. “The incident unfolded after Munger police received information about a family creating a disturbance under the influence of alcohol. Upon reaching the spot, ASI Singh was brutally attacked by the family members,” Masood said.

Singh was rushed to Sadar Hospital and later referred to a hospital in Patna, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the attackers.

This brutal killing of a police officer comes just a day after another tragic incident in Bihar. On March 13, ASI Rajiv Ranjan, posted at Fulkaha police station in Araria, was killed during a clash in Laxmipur village. The police had gone to arrest a wanted criminal, Anmol Yadav, when locals intervened, leading to violent chaos. ASI Vijay Kumar was also severely injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
