Vadodara: Vadodara accident accused Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia has denied being intoxicated before his speeding car hit a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to four others. However, Vadodara Police suspect it to be a case of drunk driving, citing eyewitness reports that Chaurasia appeared intoxicated and was heard shouting “another round, another round” after stepping out of the vehicle.

CCTV footage captured the horrifying moment when the car rammed into two scooters, knocking riders to the ground and dragging them before coming to a halt. The accident occurred around 12:30 am near Muktanand Crossroads in the Karelibaug area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya confirmed Chaurasia’s arrest, while Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar stated that multiple vehicles, including two active two-wheelers and an electric vehicle (EV), were involved in the accident. “Eight people were injured, and a woman has died. Multiple investigative teams are working on the case,” Komar told reporters.

Authorities are currently gathering evidence from the scene and tracing the movements of both the driver and his co-passenger. “We are tracking the entire movement of the accused and have successfully identified the co-passenger,” Komar added.

Despite being booked for drunk driving, Chaurasia has denied consuming alcohol, claiming he was only attending a Holika Dahan celebration. “I was not drunk, I was driving at 50 km/h. It is my fault, and I want to meet the victim’s family,” he said.
