Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday hit back sharply at the BJP following remarks by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, accusing the party of politicising a settled issue despite clear forensic and judicial findings.
Reacting to the demand for a central investigation, Mann said the BJP was free to proceed but questioned its refusal to accept facts already established by forensic experts and the court.
“It’s their (BJP) government, let them (CBI) conduct the investigation. When the forensic report clearly showed that Atishi didn’t say anything like that, but rather they (BJP) insulted the Gurus by adding subtitles. The forensic report has come out, the court has also ruled on it, but even so, if the CBI is above even the forensic laboratory for the BJP, then let them go ahead with the investigation,” Mann said.
The Punjab Chief Minister alleged that the controversy was being deliberately prolonged to distract public attention and create political noise. He maintained that the forensic analysis had already clarified the issue surrounding the video clip, leaving no scope for further misinterpretation.
